Effect of LCFeCr Alloy Additions on the Non-metallic Inclusion Characteristics in Ti-Containing Ferritic Stainless Steel

Abstract The influence of commercial low carbon ferrochromium (LCFeCr) additions on the inclusion characteristics in Ti-containing ferritic stainless steel was studied by laboratory experiment this work. inclusions before and after FeCr alloy were investigated through systematic samplings microscopy investigations liquid steel. Different types detected evolution ( e.g. , composition, size, morphology, number density) investigated. results showed that Ti content decreased additions. Furthermore, MnCr 2 O 4 spinel originating from alloys transformed into 3 –Cr -based -rich solid inclusions. They formed due to reactions between TiN or dissolved molten ratio Ti/Al melt has a direct thermodynamic calculations. addition caused an increased density these -containing up 8 minutes time addition. Cr 16 24 mass pct can increase critical N form at specific content. Overall, study contributed understanding behavior LCFeCr during alloying process
